Last Sunday was the perfect chilly, fall day for some chili. Chef Marshall Smith prepared his classic chili to serve at Pumpkin Palooza and it was a hit!
Pumpkin Palooza
The Midtown Raleigh Alliance hosted Pumpkin Palooza at Midtown Park on Sunday, October 21, 2018. The fall festival was perfect for the whole family – including four-legged friends. There were live bands, kids’ activities, Terrance and Tory’s Tailgate Zone, beer from Trophy Brewing, a bubbly bar from The Capital Grille, a Halloween costume competition for dogs, sports trivia, giveaways, shopping, and more.
Midtown Chili Cook-Off
Included in admission to the event, attendees were able to sample chili from eight prestigious local restaurants and caterers, including Kings, Firebirds, Fox & Hound, 88 Oaks, The Cardinal at North Hills, 41 Hundred, and Midtown Grille. After tasting all of the different chilies, attendees voted on their favorite. We are excited to announce that Chef Marshall Smith from Midtown Grille took home first place for his classic chili! Be on the lookout for our 2018 Best Chili in Midtown plaque and stop in soon to try some of Chef Marshall’s fall favorites for yourself.
Pumpkin Palooza Raises Monday for KidsCan!
On top of being an awesome day full of delicious food, drink, and fun, Pumpkin Palooza raised money for the Holt Brother’s Foundation – KidsCan! KidsCan! is a unique program that provides education, emotional support peer empathy, and inspiration for children with a parent with cancer. During monthly group meetings at local hospitals, facilitators help kids understand the disease and treatments. They also provide emotional support through activities, arts and crafts, group discussions, music, and more.
Tory and Terrance were out at Pumpkin Palooza throwing around the football, hanging with attendees, and of course, tasting chili. Learn more about KidsCan! at HoltBrothersFoundation.com.
